EA FC 27 chatter has kicked off early, as it always does, but this time the noise feels a bit different. Ultimate Team players are already talking market plans, starter squads, and whether it's worth stacking FC 27 Coins before the web app rush properly begins. The biggest talking point, though, isn't a promo or a gameplay tweak. It's Alex Hunter. Yep, the same Alex Hunter from The Journey. If the leaks are even close, he's being brought back through a new social space called The Grounds, which sounds like EA's attempt to give the mode a bit more life outside menus.
Alex Hunter Could Give The Grounds Some Actual Personality
A lot of players still remember FIFA 17 because of The Journey, even if they don't admit it now. It was cheesy in places, sure, but Hunter gave the game a face. That's why this rumour has landed so well. The Grounds is supposedly an open hub where you can train, pick up challenges, and maybe interact with familiar football names. Hunter might just stand there handing out drills, or he could be tied to a reward path. If EA goes all in and lets players unlock a special Hunter card, people will grind it. No question.
New Icons Are Already Splitting Opinion
The leaked Icon names are getting plenty of reaction too. Sergio Aguero is the one everyone jumped on first. Early-game Aguero, with sharp finishing and enough pace to bully centre-backs, would be a nightmare to defend. Then you've got Pepe and Raphael Varane being mentioned, and that's where the arguments start. Some fans think they're Icon-level because of their trophies and longevity. Others reckon Hero cards would make more sense. Either way, those names would pull attention, especially from players who built squads around them in older FIFA years.
Pack Walkouts Might Finally Feel Fresh Again
Pack animations have needed a shake-up for ages. The usual tunnel walk has become something you skip unless the card is huge. The leaked drone reveal sounds a bit mad, but in a good way. Imagine the camera moving above a stadium, drones forming the nation, then the position, before the player appears from a VIP entrance. It could be over the top. It probably will be. But that's also the point. Packing a top Icon or promo card should feel like a moment, not just another menu screen with fireworks.
Holographic Cards Could Change How People Trade
The holographic card idea is the bit that could seriously mess with the market. Serial-numbered items, limited runs, and digital signatures would make some cards valuable even if they aren't the best in-game. A numbered 1 of 75 card would be chased by collectors, not just Weekend League grinders. Bringing back the old Collection Book would fit that perfectly. Once a player is packed, it stays logged, even if you sell or submit it. Set rewards like coins, badges, kits, and stadium items would give duplicates a purpose beyond frustration.
SBC Fixes And The Early Grind
The rumoured SBC changes sound overdue. Being able to use duplicates more freely would save so much time, and a points-based system could make squad building less painful when you've got one massive-rated card sitting there doing nothing. Gameplay leaks say FC 27 feels close to FC 26 at launch, which was quick, loose, and pretty fun before patches slowed things down. That early period is always chaos, so plenty of players will look for ways to buy EAFC 27 Coins while prices are still moving every hour. If these systems are real, the first month could be messy, expensive, and honestly hard to ignore.
